Inspired by Alpine’s rich heritage, the A110 places driving pleasure front and centre. The mid-engined, two-seater sports car takes Alpine’s core principles - agility, compact size and lightweight build - and deploys them with modern day expertise. In its element both on the racetrack and a winding mountain road, the A110 is still refined and effortless to use every day.
By combining styling cues from the iconic A110 Berlinette with modern design features, such as ‘X’-shaped LED taillights with dynamic turn indicators, the new A110 forms a link between Alpine’s heritage and its future. Led by Frenchman Antony Villain, the design team captured the spirit of Alpine while also creating a new design language that will stand the test of time.
When viewed in profile the graceful line that flows from the very front of the A110, over the wide rear wheel arches and through to the low, uncluttered rear - a signature Alpine design feature –it underscores the A110’s elegance.
Inspired by the classic models of the Sixties and Seventies, the new A110 revives Alpine’s distinctive four headlamp design, now with full LED technology as standard.
Constructed from aluminium for lightness and bonded and riveted for strength, the compact body forms the basis of the A110’s poise and agility. Sculpted flanks and a spine over the bonnet help to make the A110 a true Alpine.
For a sports car, weight is a key factor. Weight saving measures such as compact dimensions and a lightweight aluminium body ensure that the A110 is agile and thrilling to drive.
The A110 owes its remarkable agility and rewarding handling to its strong, yet very lightweight aluminium structure. A clean-sheet design, the body is bonded and riveted both to add strength and to reduce weight even further. Aluminium offers the best possible combination of strength, weight and build quality.
Designed and engineered with an attentive eye for detail, the A110 weighs as little as 1080kg. Aluminium is used for the suspension components as well as the body, while Sabelt sports seats, weighing just 13.1kg each, help to keep weight down even further. As a result, the A110 is agile and engaging at all speeds.
Supplied by renowned wheel manufacturer Otto Fuchs, the A110’s 18-inch wheels, which are available as an option, are forged for strength and lightness. As well as reducing the overall weight of the car the wheels also minimise unsprung weight, which ensures the A110 handles with the precision and agility of a true Alpine.
Mounted directly behind the passenger compartment and powering the rear wheels, the turbocharged four-cylinder engine is the beating heart of the A110. Tuned by Alpine’s powertrain engineers to offer sharp throttle response and impressive power throughout the rev range, the 1.8-litre direct injection engine delivers strong performance and the emotive sports car soundtrack.
Boosted by a turbocharger, the four-cylinder engine offers a maximum power output of 252PS at 6000rpm with 320Nm of torque available from just 2000rpm, giving urgent acceleration in every gear.
Lightweight construction and turbocharged power give the A110 addictive straight-line performance and a power to weight ratio of 228PS/tonne. Using the launch control function, the A110 sprints to 100kph (62mph) in just 4.5 seconds.
Delivering that power to the road is a dual-clutch transmission, which offers ultra-quick gearshifts. Aluminium paddles on the steering column give the driver manual control over the gearbox for an engaging and rewarding drive.
The A110 takes Alpine’s core principles, such as compact size and lightweight construction, and deploys them with the latest technologies. Torque Vectoring and selectable drive modes help to ensure the most rewarding driving experience
As well as its lightweight construction the A110 owes its agility and handling precision to the double wishbone suspension layout. This architecture improves ride quality, stability and bump absorption on uneven surfaces. The powerful and durable brakes, meanwhile, are supplied by Brembo.
The A110 offers a choice of three driving modes. Using the Mode Selector function, the driver can switch between Normal, Sport or Track to adjust throttle response, steering assistance, gearshift speeds, exhaust sound and ESC level to suit the driving conditions.
By using the rear brakes to precisely manage torque delivery between the rear wheels, the torque vectoring system ensures superb traction and stability even in low-grip conditions, further enhancing the A110’s poise and agility.
A floating centre console and exposed seat brackets reflect the A110’s lightweight construction and sense of purpose, while climate control air conditioning and smart phone connectivity ensure the A110 is as effortless to use as it is thrilling to drive.
With a full range of driver aids that includes stability and traction control, anti-lock brakes and emergency brake assist the A110 is as safe and secure in all conditions as it is fun to drive. With features like hill-start assist and mySPIN mobile connectivity, it’s also effortless to use everyday.
The automatic air conditioning climate control system, which includes a particle filter and a windscreen defrost function, means that the A110 is refined and comfortable in daily use, whatever the weather conditions.
Weighing just 13.1kgs each, the one-piece Sabelt bucket seats offer excellent support on the racetrack while also contributing to the overall lightness of the A110. Six-way adjustable comfort seats, which are still very light, are also available.
The flat-bottomed sports steering wheel, which incorporates the Mode Selector button, is trimmed in leather fabric. Adjustable for rake and reach, the steering column also houses the pair of aluminium gearshift paddles.
Accessed via the 7” central touchscreen, Alpine Telemetrics enables the driver to record lap times at track days and store performance driving data. It also displays real-time technical information such as power and torque output, turbo boost pressure and engine and tyre temperatures.
The four-speaker Focal stereo incorporates patented flax cone technology, which helps to keep the overall weight of the A110 to a minimum while also giving a crisp and rich sound quality.
The high-resolution 7” touchscreen houses many of the A110’s standard multimedia functions, including in-car entertainment, smart phone mirroring for Android and iOS devices and full European satellite navigation.
